Which Is Easiest To Manipulate – Majestic, Ahrefs Or Moz? Part 2 – YES IT’S THE RESULTS SHOW!

One reaction to the astonishing results of this SEO test:

OK, cue the mega dramatic music now for the results of that test from Part 1 here:

The Results

BUT

before that, interestingly, when monitoring the metrics action on these sites, Ahrefs’ crawler (search engine optimisation) was way faster than Majestic by a few days and Moz Open Site Explorer by…well, forever, more on that shortly…

Ahrefs was returning results within 48 hours, Moz nothing for a month+

And today June 16 2016, let’s see how each of the tools is reporting the metrics on our new test domains with junk links:

manipulationtest-moz.com
manipulationtest-majestic.com
manipulationtest-ahrefs.com

Let’s look at Majestic first for each of the domains with basically identical links (these metrics haven’t varied much over the last month):

manipulationtest-moz.com on Majestic Fresh Index:

manipulationtest-moz majestic fresh june 16 2016

manipulationtest-moz.com on Majestic Historic Index:

manipulationtest-moz majestic historic june 16 2016

and how about manipulationtest-majestic.com on Majestic Fresh Index:

manipulationtest-majestic fresh june 16 2016

and manipulationtest-majestic.com on Majestic Historic Index:

manipulationtest-majestic historic june 16 2016

and then we have manipulationtest-ahrefs.com on Majestic Fresh Index:

manipulationtest-ahrefs fresh june 16 2016

plus Historic:

manipulationtest-ahrefs historic june 16 2016

it all SEEMS fine doesn’t it?

After all, there was virtually no TrustFlow reported, just Citation Flow from the raw number of links so we’re unlikely to be fooled by these domains if they were masquerading as quality products for sale.

But if we dig a little deeper – and this is my pet hate with Majestic – we can get quite DIFFERENT results when you enter a domain here:

majestic001

(read seo guide here)

in fact, you can get UP TO 12 DIFFERENT metrics readings on the SAME domain – try it there on your sites to see what I mean by entering:

  1. domain.com (Fresh Index)
  2. domain.com (Historic Index)
  3. www.domain.com (Fresh Index)
  4. www.domain.com  (Historic Index)
  5. http://domain.com (Fresh Index)

So what did we learn from all this – the Majestic Summary?

(seo)

        • Majestic did a pretty good job of not being fooled that spam links should boost the TrustFlow of a new site with junk backlinks
        • Majestic’s crawler is WAY faster than Moz.
        • Majestic can give you 12 different metrics for the SAME domain – always check the main different versions (Majestic have said that we should be guided by the root domain metrics BUT that only applies if (seo hero) the links coming to your domain/site obey that, as far as I can see).
        • In short, CHECK CHECK CHECK as you may think an expired domain for SEO is terrible when in fact it has great metrics when you enter a DIFFERENT URL version.
        • We saw above that the metrics for WPX Hosting varied from TrustFlow ZERO to 16, Citation Flow from 8 to 37, Referring Domains from 1 to 304 and total backlinks from 1 to 45,000 (read about seo web hosting here) (https://blog.terrykyle.com/3d-printer/)!

Now let’s look at Moz in this test…..
